Enhanced superplasticity in commercially pure titanium alloy
The superplasticity of commercially pure titanium alloy at high temperature was studied and the dynamic recrystallization phenomenon of the alloy was investigated by using electron back scattered diffraction. A two-step deformation method was used to increase the ductility of the alloy from 188% to 243%. 2004 Acta Materialia Inc. Published by Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
متن کاملTRANSFORMATION SUPERPLASTICITY OF SUPER a2 TITANIUM ALUMINIDE
ÐTransformation superplasticity of an intermetallic Ti3Al-based alloy (Super a2) is demonstrated by thermal cycling about the a2/b transformation temperature range under a uniaxial tensile biasing stress. Failure strains up to 610% were recorded at a stress of 3 MPa, compared with 110% for deformation by isothermal creep at the same stress. The strain increment produced during each half-cycle i...
متن کاملFive-parameter grain boundary analysis of a titanium alloy before and after low-temperature annealing
The five-parameter grain boundary analysis has been applied for the first time to a titanium alloy. The boundary distribution was related to the b-to-a phase transformation and to deformation twinning. There was a very strong planes texture, only partially related to twinning, which did not diminish during long-duration, low-temperature annealing. 2007 Acta Materialia Inc. Published by Elsevier...
متن کاملLow temperature superplasticity and thermal stability of a nanostructured low-carbon microalloyed steel
We describe here for the first time the low temperature superplasticity of nanostructured low carbon steel (microalloyed with V, N, Mn, Al, Si, and Ni). Low carbon nanograined/ultrafine-grained (NG/UFG) bulk steel was processed using a combination of cold-rolling and annealing of martensite. The complex microstructure of NG/UFG ferrite and 50-80 nm cementite exhibited high thermal stability at ...
متن کاملLow-Temperature Interface Reaction between Titanium and the Eutectic Silver-Copper Brazing Alloy
Reaction zones formed at 790 °C between solid titanium and liquid Ag-Cu eutectic alloys (pure and Ti-saturated) have been characterized. When pure Ag-Cu eutectic alloy with 40 at.% Cu is used, the interface reaction layer sequence is: αTi / Ti2Cu / TiCu / Ti3Cu4 / TiCu4 / L. Because of the fast dissolution rate of Ti in the alloy, the reaction zone remains very thin (3-6 μm) whatever the reacti...
